Hull City FITC, managed by ex-Hull City goalkeeper John Davies, is a well established, progressive and self supporting scheme that reaches out to communities within the Hull and East Riding area.
The aim of FITC is to enthuse, stimulate and challenge children through football, highlight the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and provide positive role models for children.
In January 2008, KC paid for FITC’s previously dull and shabby classroom at the KC Stadium to be transformed into a bright and colourful learning environment. New flooring was laid, the room was painted and posters were hung to liven up the walls.
Children from Skirlaugh Primary School enjoyed the chance to meet Tigers defender Sam Ricketts when he unveiled the newly decorated classroom.
KCOM also provided funding for over 30 schools to benefit from free access to FITC’s Fit for Football educational programme. This encourages children to adopt a healthy lifestyle by highlighting the benefits of eating a balanced diet, taking part in regular exercise and sporting activities and avoiding harmful behaviours such as drinking and smoking.
